Team Captain Jason Randell, like yours truly, is a Jew. Unlike yours truly, he is an observant Jew. So he missed the game due to Passover. Nü-Coach was also absent, which was doubly unfortunate because he was rumored to have been bringing a friend. Although we have not met the friend, he has already been dubbed Assistant Coach.

On the upside, we added a couple new players this week. CKM programmer Eric Choi joined the team and proved to be quite effective. Second-year medical student Cindy Oparah also joined the team and played a very strong game. I had no idea who she was when she walked over to the team and said, "Do you guys need another player? You'll win, I promise." Even though she failed by a long way to make good on the promise, we're very pleased to welcome her and her skillz to the team.

We led for the first few minutes of the game, but by halftime High Octane was up by 8 points. They really started to pick apart our zone defense in the second half and they also started to hit their stride in the shooting department. The lopsided score makes it look like we were beat more soundly than we were, but High Octane nonetheless more than earned the win.

At one point, I went up for a rebound and the top of my head collided with the upper teeth of a High Octane player. I was concerned about his teeth and asked him if he was OK a play or two later. He said he was fine. Another minute or two went by before I noticed that my head was bleeding and I had blood on my hands, shirt, and shorts. I subbed out, but eventually went back into the game. The Fighting Au Jus have heart.
