The punch recipes in The Joy of Cooking make large enough quantities that I have to wait for a party to make these recipes. A friend of mine hosted a clothes swap and the invitation said to bring something to eat or drink. No problem!

The recipe calls for using your choice of hot water, hot milk, or hot coffee. I was going to use coffee, but my friend didn't have a coffee maker. I thought about going the paper towel route, but decided hot water would be fine.

It was good, but a bit thin. Go with milk or coffee and you'll probably have something almost as good as The Joy of Cooking egg nog!
