Fighting Au Jus Season Record: 0-3
Fighting Au Jus Record At Home: 0-2
We went into tonight's game with high hopes. We were playing Rx007, a team that had lost to High Octane by 27 points in the first week of the season. We lost to High Octane by 27 points last week. Like the Fighting Au Jus, Rx007 had a 0-2 record. We had the home court advantage. Things looked good. We were ready to move out of the basement in the league standings.
It was not to be. During the first half, Rx007 got the lane a few times on the Fighting Au Jus man-to-man defense. They ended the half up by eight points. I especially did poorly on the man-to-man defense. By the time Jason subbed in for me and asked who I was covering, I was so confused by previous subs that I didn't know.
We switched to a zone for the second half and it worked a little better. We gained on them, but not enough. We lost by three points.
There were many more fouls in this game than in previous games. Chris Austin, in particular, got called for so many fouls when he wasn't even moving that the expression at right was permanently stuck on his face for the entire second half.
Neither Gordon (who sustained a foot injury in game 1) nor I (who received a head wound in game 2) were injured in this game.

Game Notes by Coach Bob: The Fighting Au Jus played well. Player-for-player, they were outmatched. The game should not have been as close as it was, but the zone defense befuddled Rx007.
Fighting Au Jus need to set picks for Cindy. She could be unstoppable with the ball inside if she could get some help.
Trott needs to go for the ball more aggressively and play big.
The lane violation call against the Fighting Au Jus at the end of the game was an outrage. Then again, the scorekeeping was off in favor of the Fighting Au Jus, so perhaps it all equals out in the end.
The Fighting Au Jus need to run a set offense.
